The Jewish Arts Dance Program offers tuition and performances in traditional Israeli folk dancing – Rikudei-Am. Regular classes run on Wednesday evenings at North Shore Temple Emanuel, Chatswood, and occasional classes run at North Shore Synagogue, Lindfield, and other venues.
Dancers from the program have performed at many community events, including:
- “Yemen-Nite”, where choreographer Jayme Akstein prepared a 20-minute performance piece - “Magic Carpet”, based on the flight of Yemenite Jews to Israel.
- Simchat Torah events at North Shore Temple Emanuel
- “Trip Around Israel” as part of the B’nai B’rith Day of Culture and Heritage, 2013
- “The Israel Concert” and “Yom Yerushalayim” events celebrating aspects of Israeli culture and history.
